This week’s READ OF THE WEEK goes too…
SACRIFICE by Adriana Locke
My life changed forever the night my husband died.
I was left with a shattered heart, a heap of bills, and our daughter, EVERLEIGH. I don’t want to rely on anyone, least of all CREW GENTRY. He’s my first love and the man who almost destroyed me, the man who has let me down every time I’ve needed him.
But when tragedy strikes a second time, Crew just might be my only hope.
My life changed forever the night my brother died.
I was left with a guilty conscience, a pile of mistakes, and little else. I take care of JULIA GENTRY, my brother’s widow and the love of my life, and their daughter. I know she doesn’t want my help, but she gets it anyway. I owe her that.
When another disaster hits, I’m given the opportunity to make things right. I’m taking it. I’m willing to sacrifice it all.
An emotionally gripping story about love, loss, and second chances that touches your heart and leaves a lasting impression.
From page one I was hooked. The characters were real, raw, and relatable. You can’t help but be sucked in and root for a HEA.
The pace flowed well and the plot was fantastically engaging keeping you flipping page after page till the end.
This story really hit home for me having a daughter like the MC of my own. It makes you realize that every moment is precious even the small ones.
I recommend this book to anyone going through a tough time and for those who love second chance romances.

WEB OF LIGHT by Kyra Dune
When Queen Eanndra calls the leaders of the Territories and their heirs to Star Mountain for a Conclave, none of them expect to have their lives changed forever by the repercussions of a war that ended three hundred years ago.
With the return of the Web of Light, chaos and destruction must surely follow.
Sides will be chosen.
Friendships won and lost.
For within every heart lies the dark seed of betrayal.
I was blown away by this beautifully crafted story! Kyra Dune is definitely an author I will be reading more from.
I was sucked right in from page one and didn’t let up even at the end. I am highly anticipating the next book! Each of the characters were unique and interesting. My favorite characters were Valdor and Seva.
Kyra created an unique world of different and original creatures.
There was action, mystery, drama, magic, power and romance mixed into one epic journey.
If you enjoy YA fantasy you’ll love this story.

Why it makes READ OF THE WEEK:
- Fantasy! I love fantasy and this world that the author created didn’t disappoint. She did a beautiful job showing a new fantasy world without bogging down the reader with tons of details.
- The characters! There’s a diverse variety of characters that are each unique and exciting to read. I enjoyed their development over the course of the story.
- The pacing. The book is paced fantastically! There was never a dull moment and I had an easy time reading the book in one sitting.
- YA. Lots of people have differing options on YA novels. I enjoy a well written YA that isn’t too overdramatic and high schooly. Thankfully, this book wasn’t like that. I like that YA books explore that time when people grow up and find their own way in the world. There’s so much emotion and different things going on that it usually makes for an excellent read for any age and this book has that for me.
- The blending of genres. The book blends different genres smoothly and made for an interesting and exciting read.
As an added bonus the next book in this duology is out so theres no waiting to find out what happens and Kyra Dune has a lot more awesome fantasy books out to read.
9/18 This week’s read of the week goes to…
Twenty-three year old Dimitri has to do what he is told—literally. Controlled by a paranormal bond, he is forced to use his wits to fulfill unlimited deadly wishes made by multimillionaire Karl Walker.
Dimitri has no idea how his family line became trapped in the genie bond. He just knows resisting has never ended well. When he meets Syd—assertive, sexy, intelligent Syd—he becomes determined to make her his own. Except Karl has ensured Dimitri can’t tell anyone about the bond, and Syd isn’t the type to tolerate secrets.
Then Karl starts sending him away on back-to-back wishes. Unable to balance love and lies, Dimitri sets out to uncover Karl’s ultimate plan and put it to an end. But doing so forces him to confront the one wish he never saw coming—the wish that will destroy him.
A dark twist on the genie folklore, SUMMONED follows a reluctant criminal as he unravels the mystery of the paranormal bond controlling him.
SUMMONED is represented by Rossano Trentin of TZLA.
Note: SUMMONED contains strong language, naughty scenes, mature content, terrible wishes, mystery, violence, discomfort, explosions, and an apple.
One of the best books I have read! I had a very hard time putting this one down especially in the end. A wonderfully dark and delicious adventure.
Dimitri is forced to do what he’s told. He’s tied to a paranormal bond with Karl Walker, a multimillionaire and his ‘master.’ He’s a modern day genie but instead of three wishes, the wishes are unlimited. Dimitri’s resigned to his life, forced to be at his master’s beck and call. When he meets Syd, a beautiful woman, he starts to fall for her. But he’s forced to lie to her and Syd is not one to tolerate lies for long.
Dimitri tries to balance his two lives, but when he’s forced to go out on back-to-back wish it becomes too much and everything starts to fall apart. When Dimitri tries to discover what Karl is after, he never expects the truth or what it will cost him.
Move aside Aladdin’s genie and hello Dimitri. A dark and modern tale about genies. I really enjoyed the plot and concept. There aren’t many books out there about genies and it was awesome to see one, but not only that, but to find one so beautifully done.
The characters were real and down to earth. There were no little Disney kids here.
I loved Dimitri’s character! He’s a complicated and dark character struggling with who and what he is. Nothing about him is typical or simple. He is such an interesting character to read about and one you are sure to remember.
I enjoyed the darker tone to the story and the nonstop action and drama. It was so easy to get sucked in and you’ll be left wanting more in the end. The author’s style was easy to read and flowed flawlessly keeping you on the edge of your seat to the very end.
If you enjoy paranormal books with a darker edge and a more realistic look at folklore then you will enjoy this.
Why it’s the read of the week:
Because it’s awesome! Just kidding. It is but that’s not why it tops the list this week. Firstly, with all the paranormal books out there vampires, witches, and shifters have become very common characters, but genies aren’t that common.
Secondly, the book is dark. It takes what we know about genies and twists it into something wickedly dark and fantastic. Of course if you don’t like darker books then this might not appeal to you.
Thirdly, not your average love story. No, instant love magic but real hardworking and genuine feelings. I wouldn’t classify this book as a romance but with the elements there is some in there.
Fourthly, the characters. The characters are realistic, down to earth and hugely entertaining.
And lastly, Dimitri. Do I need to say more? Look at the cover people! He’s a sexy bad boy.
To recap reasons why you need to read this:
#1: it’s not your average paranormal read.
#2: it’s darkly twisted and fantastic
#3: developed feelings
#4: kickass genuine characters
#5: heartthrob Dimitri
And as an added bonus it’s free on Amazon right now so what are you waiting for?!
